    • Blood Drive
The last drive was a success.
On behalf of the American Red Cross and, more importantly, the patients and families that depend on your donations, thank you.
The next blood drive is scheduled for Saturday April 19, 2008 at the lions den.

One in three people will need a blood transfusion sometime in his or her life, and yet only one in twenty gives blood. When we take time from our busy schedules to give blood, we give someone a second chance at life. And that someone could be a family member, friend or even yourself.

One unit of donated blood can save up to three lives because the blood is separated into three components. Red blood cells are given to people who are bleeding or have a low blood count, platelets are often given to cancer patients to help with clotting, and plasma is often used in trauma cases to help control blood pressure.

The need for blood in the community continues to rise, and yet blood donations are decreasing. Please keep our blood drive in your plans and sign up for an appointment by calling Lion Tom Mantsch at 697-2139.
The blood drive of October 20, 2007 resulted in 46 productive units. On behalf of the American Red Cross and, more importantly, the patients and families that depend on your efforts, thank you. The next blood drive is slated for April 19, 2008, 8:00AM to 12:30 PM.

Mark your calendar and tell your friends. The location for the blood drive is the Etowah Lions Den, 447 Etowah School Road. Blood drive hours are from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
      Contact Tom Mantch at
      697-2139 for information.
